5 Google add-ons every teacher should know in 2026

Between question papers, worksheets, timetables and forms, a teacher's evening disappears into admin that has nothing to do with actually teaching. These five Google add-ons take on that work, right inside the Sheets, Docs and Forms you already use, so revision, worksheets and paperwork stop eating your evenings.

How to install any of them, in four steps

The steps are the same for all five add-ons. Only the Google app you open at the end changes.

1

Tap the Install button

Each add-on below has its own button. It opens the listing on the Google Workspace Marketplace.

2

Click the blue Install

Choose your Google account, read the permissions screen and click Allow.

3

Open the right Google app

A Google Sheet, a Google Doc or a Google Form, as shown on each add-on card.

4

Find it under Extensions

Choose Extensions, pick the add-on and click the topmost option, Activate or Setup.

Using a school account? If your school manages your Google account, the IT admin may block Marketplace add-ons. Ask the admin to allow the TeachOS add-ons, or use a personal Gmail account until then.

Add-on 1 of 5

Doc to Form Quiz Maker

Works in Google Docs™

You already have question papers typed in Google Docs. This add-on reads the Doc and builds an auto-graded Google Forms quiz from it in one click, so you stop copying 40 questions by hand. It picks up MCQs, short answers and checkboxes, and it keeps inline images and maths equations intact, so diagram questions and formulas survive the move.

How to use it in Google Docs

Extensions›Doc to Form Quiz Maker›Activate
  1. Open the Google Doc that holds your question paper. Use numbered questions, with options A, B, C and D on separate lines for MCQs.
  2. Open the add-on from the Extensions menu. It scans the Doc and shows a count of everything it found.
  3. Add the answer key and marks for each question to switch on auto-grading and feedback.
  4. Click Generate Form. Your Google Form quiz is created in your own account.
  5. Share the Form link with students, or assign it in Google Classroom.
Add-on 2 of 5

PersonaSheet

Works in Google Sheets™

Thirty students, thirty different worksheets. PersonaSheet is an AI agent that reads each student's profile and interests from your Sheet and writes a personalised worksheet for every one of them as a Google Doc. It then sends the worksheets, reminds students before the due date and grades the submissions with feedback. It works for any board, grade, subject or language.

How to use it in Google Sheets

Extensions›PersonaSheet›Initial Setup
  1. Open a Google Sheet and run Initial Setup. It creates three tabs: StudentData, WorksheetRequest and WorksheetTracker.
  2. In StudentData, add one row per student: name, class and interests such as a favourite sport or hobby.
  3. In WorksheetRequest, fill one row with the subject, topic, grade and the number of MCQs, short answers and word problems.
  4. Click Generate Worksheets and watch the live progress. Each student gets a unique Google Doc.
  5. Choose how to send them (Google Classroom, email link, email PDF or Drive), then click Grade Worksheets after students submit.

Worksheet generation uses Sparks. Sending, reminders, answer keys and grading stay free.

Add-on 3 of 5

ClassQuest

Works in Google Sheets™

ClassQuest turns revision into a game. Pick a chapter from the curriculum packs (CBSE, ICSE and Cambridge) and it gives you a quiz battle with 20 game modes, a student link that needs no login, and fresh question values on every play. The same chapter also becomes a print-ready worksheet, a lesson plan and a board-pattern exam paper with a marking scheme. Scores land in your own Google Sheet.

How to use it in Google Sheets

Extensions›ClassQuest›Activate
  1. Open any Google Sheet and choose Activate. The ClassQuest window opens.
  2. Click Create Quiz, then select your Board, Class, Subject and Chapter.
  3. Choose one or more game modes and click Generate Link. The student link is ready in about 20 seconds.
  4. Share the link on WhatsApp, Google Classroom or email. Students open it in any browser, with no app and no login.
  5. Scores appear in the Attempts tab of your Sheet. Open Mastery Dashboard to see who needs help and which questions were missed most.

Need paperwork too? Lesson Plan Studio and Exam Studio sit in the same ClassQuest menu.

Add-on 4 of 5

FormFlow Pro

Works in Google Forms™

Google Forms is simple, and that is also its limit. FormFlow Pro adds what schools keep asking for: seat limits that close an option when it is full, appointment booking for parent meetings, quiz timers that submit on time, a focus guard for tests, and 12+ languages. Every response still lands in your original Form and its linked Sheet, so your existing reports keep working.

How to use it in Google Forms

Puzzle piece icon›FormFlow Pro›Open
  1. Open a Google Form you have already built. Google Forms has no Extensions menu, so click the puzzle piece icon at the top.
  2. Select FormFlow Pro, click Open and accept the consent screen. It can see only the one form it is opened in.
  3. Switch on what you need: Seat Limits, Quiz Timer, Exam Focus Guard or Booking Calendar, then click Save.
  4. Copy the FormFlow link and share that one with respondents, not the normal Google Form link.
  5. Watch seats count down live. Full options and full slots close themselves.
Add-on 5 of 5

Timetable Genie

Works in Google Sheets™

Building next term's timetable should not take a week. Describe your school once (classes, subjects, teachers and periods per week) and Timetable Genie places a clash-free timetable straight into your Sheet, with views for classes and teachers. It also includes a substitute planner for days when a teacher is absent and an exam date sheet generator. It suits schools, colleges and coaching institutes.

How to use it in Google Sheets

Extensions›Timetable Genie›Setup
  1. Open a Google Sheet and choose Setup. The generate wizard opens.
  2. Enter your classes, subjects, teachers and the periods per week for each subject.
  3. Add your rules: teacher availability by day, double periods and special rooms.
  4. Click Generate Timetable. The clash-free timetable is written into your Sheet.
  5. When a teacher is absent, open Substitute Planner, pick the teacher and the date, and see who is free for each period.

Stuck on a step? The Chat AI assistant inside the wizard can guide you.
