Getting Started
6 questionsHow do I set up PersonaSheet for the first time?
Click PersonaSheet > Setup & Activate in the menu. Accept the consent screen and your 50 free Sparks activate automatically. Then go to Settings > Link Google Classroom to connect your class.
What are Sparks?
1 Spark = 1 complete worksheet for one student (up to 10 questions). You start with 50 free Sparks on activation. Buy more via PersonaSheet > Buy Sparks. Grading and sending are always free.
Do I need a Google Classroom account?
No — Classroom is optional. You can send worksheets by email (PDF or Doc link) or download PDFs without Classroom. Classroom is required for automatic grading.
Where do I add my students?
Open the StudentData tab. Delete the 5 sample rows and add one row per student. Required columns: Student ID, First Name, Last Name, Grade, Section, Student Google Email.
Can I use one spreadsheet for multiple classes (different grades or sections)?
Yes. Add all students to the same StudentData tab — one row per student with their own Grade and Section. Each WorksheetRequest row generates worksheets only for students matching that specific Grade and Section. No separate spreadsheets needed for multiple classes.
When should I use separate spreadsheets?
Use separate spreadsheets only when you need to link different Google Classroom courses (e.g. Grade 6 Maths in one course, Grade 9 Science in another). Each spreadsheet stores its own Classroom link, assignment numbering, and tracker. Your Sparks balance is shared across all spreadsheets — you never pay twice.
Generating Worksheets
5 questionsHow do I generate worksheets?
Fill in the New Worksheet tab — one row = one assignment for all students in that Grade/Section. Click PersonaSheet > Generate Worksheets. A progress dialog shows each student being processed.
How many questions can I include?
Up to 10 questions total per worksheet. You can mix types: MCQ, Short Answer, Word Problem, Fill-in-Blank, and Challenge. The total across all types must not exceed 10.
Some students show "Error" in the tracker. What do I do?
Those rows are automatically marked with a Retry checkbox. Click PersonaSheet > Retry Failed Generation to re-run only the failed students.
Why are student worksheets different from each other?
The AI uses each student's interests (Sport, Hobby, Favourite Subject, TV Show, Food) from the StudentData tab to personalise every question. Same topic, different context per student.
Can I choose which students to generate worksheets for?
Yes. In the Generate Worksheets dialog, click Select Students to open the student picker. Search, select/deselect individual students, or use Select All.
Sending Worksheets
3 questionsHow do I send worksheets to students?
Open the Worksheet Tracker tab and set the Dispatch Method for each row. Options: Google Classroom, Email PDF, Email Doc Link, Download PDF only. Then click PersonaSheet > Send Worksheets.
What is the difference between Email PDF and Email Doc Link?
Email PDF sends the worksheet as a PDF attachment — student cannot edit. Email Doc Link sends a link to the Google Doc — student can type answers directly in the Doc.
Can I set a due date for Classroom assignments?
Yes. Set the Due Date column in the New Worksheet tab before generating. It will be read automatically when you send via Classroom. If no date is set, you will be prompted.
Grading
4 questionsHow does automatic grading work?
After students submit via Google Classroom, click PersonaSheet > Grade Worksheets. The AI reads each submission, scores it against the answer key rubric, writes the score to the Doc, posts it to Classroom, and sends a grade report email.
Is grading free?
Yes — grading never deducts Sparks. Only worksheet generation costs Sparks.
Can I grade worksheets sent by email (not Classroom)?
Not currently. Automatic grading requires students to submit via Google Classroom. For email-dispatched worksheets, grading must be done manually.
What does "Not Submitted" mean in the Graded column?
The student has not yet submitted their work via Classroom. Check back after the due date.
Sparks & Plans
3 questionsHow many Sparks do I need?
1 Spark per student worksheet. To generate for 30 students = 30 Sparks. Use the Sparks counter in the Generate dialog to see the exact cost before confirming.
What happens when I run out of Sparks?
The Generate button is disabled when balance is insufficient. Buy a Starter (300 Sparks) or Maestro (1,000 Sparks) pack via PersonaSheet > Buy Sparks.
Do Sparks expire?
Trial Sparks expire after 30 days. Purchased Spark packs are valid for 12 months from purchase date.
Troubleshooting
5 questionsThe menu is not showing after I install the add-on.
Reload the spreadsheet (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R). The PersonaSheet menu appears in the top menu bar. If still missing, go to Extensions > Add-ons > Manage add-ons and check it is enabled.
I accidentally deleted or modified a sheet. How do I fix it?
Go to PersonaSheet > Settings > Rebuild WorksheetTracker to restore the tracker. If StudentData or New Worksheet are affected, contact support via the Help Centre.
How do I check my Spark balance?
Go to PersonaSheet > Settings > My Plan & Usage. Your current balance, plan, and expiry are shown. The Generate dialog also shows your balance in real time.
The worksheet generation is taking very long.
Generation takes 20-60 seconds per student. A class of 30 students may take 15-20 minutes. Do not close the progress dialog. If it times out after 6+ minutes, use Retry Failed Generation.
Where do the generated worksheets go?
All worksheets are saved to a PersonaSheet folder in your Google Drive, organised by class. Links appear in the Worksheet Tracker tab automatically.
